Sherlock Holmes, instantly identifiable by his silhouette alone, has appeared more times on-screen than any other fictional character. Created just before the birth of cinema, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective has packed in cinema-goers across the world for decades.

This collection features two incarnations of the master sletuh, beginning with the great Basil Rathbone as Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Watson in four films that thrilled wartime audiences. And included are five episodes from “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmds”, the television series which originally aired in 1954 and starred Ronald Howard as Holmes and H. Marion Crawford as Watson.
