In deeply considered still lifes, Wolf brings everyday objects, cultural touchstones, and personal stories to bear in her paintings.Sea of Tearecalls a voyage taken by the artists own mother, who crossed the vast Pacific Ocean from New Zealand to the United States just after World War II, carrying her possessions and family history. We can recognize a commonality that connects one generation to another, one era to another, Wolf says. My hope is to learn from our past by looking at it intensely.
